Bienvenue - Welcome to Sing In French!
We have some very exciting news!
Our first ever full production of our singalong in French Pantomime 'Pinot' will be performed on 5th July in the Kingston International Youth Arts Festival (www.iyafestival.org.uk). Six Wimbledon primary schools will each perform one scene and they have all been working very hard to fit this project into their busy schedules. The venue for the show is now confirmed as the Arthur Cotterell Theatre, Kingston Upon Thames. Visit www.iyafestival.org.uk to book tickets (£4.50) or call 0871 230 1552. Complimentary tickets have all been taken but you can add your name to the waiting list if you are a teacher - email info@singinfrench.com or use the 'Contact' tab.
We have now completed our pilots & market tests and will be launching the 6 scenes as 10 minute French assemblies in the late Autumn 2010. In addition to the July performance, other pilot shows have been taking place. Scene 1 has been piloted enthusiastically in East London, Ghana and Nigeria by Mind Your Language French Clubs (www.myl-frenchclubs.co.uk) throughout 2009 and early 2010. A talented group of Year 7 boys from Verulam School in Hertfordshire performed a lively version of Scene 2 to open the Hertfordshire Transition Conference on March 3rd 2010. The first ever pilot performance of both Scenes 1 and 2 took place on the 22nd June 2010 at Feltonfleet school in Surrey to a fantastic audience reception.
Don't forget, you can buy our products online without paying online. Simply select Payment Option 1 (Schools Only) when you are checking out and make sure that you put the shipping address as your school, and we will send an invoice with the goods. How simple is that?. No need for credit cards!
Last summer we formed the London Consortium for Music and Languages with three partners: Hanna Pianos (www.hanna-pianos.co.uk); Merton Languages (www.mertonlanguages.co.uk) and Cherry Pie Music (www.cherrypiemusic.co.uk). Hanna Pianos is the official sponsor of our show at the Kingston International Youth Arts Festival.
The 4th July performance of Pinot in East London with MYL French Clubs (www.myl-frenchclubs.co.uk) was a bit hit! On September 17th we gave a live demonstration to 90 primary and secondary teachers at the CILT Bexley Heath Conference on how to stage a French Pantomime. We worked with a group of 30 year 6 children to perform 2 scenes of 'Pinot' from scratch in 40 minutes! Our trip to the Hertfordshire Heads of MFL Conference on November 2nd was highly successful. Secondary teachers are starting to really talk to each other about the good effect our songs and musical has on Years 7, 8 and 9.
Hundreds of schools have now bitten the bullet and are putting on Scene 1 of Pinot as a 10 minute French assembly. We are going to upgrade Scene 1 and will send a free upgrade to all our customers who bought Scene 1. We will let you know when the other Scenes are available.
On October 1st we were invited by the new Government Body 'Links into Languages' (www.linksintolanguages.ac.uk) to make our products available to the 9 regional centres in England so that teachers can try them out. Visit their website and see more about their activities!
And finally, we are working hard with both MYL French Clubs and Nancy Boulicault (author of Radio Franglais in our Mystery Box - look left!) to produce a unique new Inset Day Course on 'French Through Musical Drama' for Continuing Professional Development. These will be listed under 'Events' on www.linksintolanguages.ac.uk so have a look from time to time.
Don't forget that as a teacher, you have the option to buy and receive an invoice. When you have chosen your goods, select the first payment option and your goods will be shipped, and an invoice will be emailed.
Have Fun!
