What is a ten minute ‘Plug ‘n’ Play’ French assembly?
It is an audio recording of the entire 10 minute scene, including narration, mood-music, script and songs. The narration is in English so that the audience can follow the story. There are two tracks:
• a Rehearsal Track (with full recording of the complete scene including mood-music, narration, spoken script and songs) and
• a Performance Track ( with Narration, mood-music and songs but with spoken script removed).
On the day of the performance, the teacher simply puts on the CD and watches along with the audience! True ‘Plug ‘n’ Play’!.
The teacher can work through the script with a KS2/3 class, using the Rehearsal Track like a radio play. When the students are sufficiently confident, they can practise with the Performance track which has the spoken script removed (but still has the narration). KS1 children could perform a mime with the Rehearsal Track, and sing-along with the songs.
NB. All songs are from our two albums, Cha Cha Cha Comme Ci Comme Ca and Cha Cha Cha Excusez Moi!
In Scene 1 we meet Petrov (Pinot) for the first time at the Gare Du Nord in Paris. We are also introduced to his Russian friends, as well as a friendly beggar, a ticket collector, a rude English lady passenger and a group of Eurostar passengers. There are three songs in this scene.
• a RAP ‘Billets Billets’ to mock the ticket inspector.
• C’est La Vie, Mon Ami’ a French Café Waltz.
• A POP style song 'Les Jours de la Semaine’ about the Eurostar timetable
